Even if you aren’t a fan of John Mayer, you probably know at least one of his songs. But did you know that he’s also a prominent watch collector? The seven-time Grammy winner is well-known in the watch community and in the entertainment industry for his vast collection of watches. With pieces that run the gamut from rare, short-lived models to popular collector’s favorites, it’s hard to tell exactly how many pieces he owns – but it’s apparent that he counts Rolex, Patek Philippe, and IWC among his favorites. Here are some of the pieces we’ve spotted in John Mayer’s Watch Collection: |

The Rolex GMT-Master 116710 BLNR otherwise known as the “Batman” is one of the watches he brings on tour. The watch has a modern two-toned blue and black bezel and a travel time functionality that makes it perfect for people who hop in between timezones. He sometimes also wears his Rolex GMT II 116719 BLRO or “Pepsi” GMT in white gold on stage. Photo from GQ Magazine on Twitter |

John is a fan of Patek Philippe and one of his favorites is the Aquanaut. He wears his timepiece on a rubber strap, which to some may be unfitting for a Patek, but it’s perfect for John who spends hours on stage. Photo from John Mayer on Instagram |

As we mentioned, he likes rare, holy grail pieces, and counts the sought after vintage “Sigma” Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 6263 as one of his favorites. When on tour though, he wears a modern version, the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona White Dial Chronograph Watch 116500. Photo from John Mayer on Instagram |

The IWC Big Pilot is one of the watches most associated with John, especially when he was starting as a watch collector. In fact, his tour managers even called him “Big Pilot”, as he always loved to wear one on stage. We see him wearing other watches on tour now. However, judging by the number of Big Pilots he owns (around 15), it remains a favorite. Photo from John Mayer on Instagram |

John considers his Rolex Explorer II his first “real” watch, and by that he probably means luxury watch. He did it following the release of his breakthrough album, Room for Squares in 2001. He hasn’t stopped collecting watches since. Photo from John Mayer on Instagram |

While John has extremely rare and expensive watches in his collection, he isn’t a watch snob. He actually reviews entry-level watches from time to time! Tudor is one of the watches he likes, as the price makes it accessible for first-time collectors. It also reminds longtime enthusiasts of the thrill of collecting.
