The green dial is not new to the Day-Date. We’ve already seen it on the Day-Date’s 60th-anniversary watch, but it was in a sunburst finish, not lacquered. This new dial looks like a throwback to the iconic “Stella” dials from the 1970s, which came in a variety of bright colors such as green, oxblood, pastel pink, and turquoise, all in a high gloss enamel finish. The new Day-Date 40 ref. 228238 modernizes the lacquered dial with a sharper fluted bezel, and faceted yellow gold applied Roman numerals. The way Rolex did the X and the V is an especially nice detail. |
